The Benedictine University men's basketball team dropped an 87-77 decision at the University of Dubuque on Tuesday night, suffering a third straight loss.
Tanner Resch recorded the first bucker of the game but Dubuque responded with a 14-2 run to open a double-digit lead with 13:08 left in the first. Trailing by 11 with 8:37 remaining in the half, Benedictine pulled within 38-37 after a three-point play from
Ryan Tucker in the final minute. Benedictine stayed close in the second and Resch brought the team to within 69-68 with 6:19 left but the hosts responded with 12 straight to pull away.
Benedictine was just 4-22 from three point range and finished the game shooting 44.9 percent. Dubuque shot 66 percent in the second half and held a 42-27 edge on the glass. Resch led three players in double digits with 22.
Patrick Mayfield added 17 while
Ryan Tucker tallied 13 off the bench.
Benedictine (1-3) hosts #15 Wisconsin Lutheran on Saturday afternoon in the conference opener.
