Box Score The Benedictine University women's basketball team shot just 28 percent in suffering a 69-56 defeat in the conference opener at Lakeland on Wednesday.
After falling behind by four in the opening quarter, Benedictine went on to lead by four and held a 15-12 edge after the first 10 minutes. The lead reached eight in the second quarter on a three-pointer from
Alexis Schueler with 8:04 to go in the half. Lakeland closed the opening 20 on an 8-0 run to lead 30-22 at the break.
Allison Jarvis scored four straight points to tie the contest late in the third but another late run put the hosts in front by eight. A three from
Makenzie Carroll drew Benedictine to within six points but Lakeland pulled away for the win.
Schueler totaled 12 points to pace Benedictine with Jarvis adding 11.
Olympia Kokkines notched nine while
Megan Duzansky reeled in 10 rebounds. Benedictine forced 31 turnovers in the contest.
Benedictine (2-3, 0-1 NACC) visits Dominican on Saturday afternoon.
