The Benedictine University softball team scored nearly 30 runs in notching a pair of wins in Florida on Saturday.
GAME ONE: BENEDICTINE 22, URSINUS 10
Benedictine fell behind early but used the big inning to tally a big win in a marathon game that took nearly three hours to complete.
Ursinus led 6-2 and 7-5 before Benedictine put up a six-spot in the fourth inning. Clinging to an 11-10 lead late, Benedictine plated 11 runs in the seventh to run away. The team sent 15 to the plate in the seventh.
Sam Davidowski,
Taylor Oppenhuis, Victoris Duszynski and
Mia Giammarese all notched three hits as Benedictine finished with 17. The team tallied eight extra-base hits including seven doubles. Oppenhuis drove home four with Duszynski and
Morgan Bruno both plating three.
Bella Lodico earned the win in the circle.
GAME TWO: BENEDICTINE 7, THOMAS 1
The big inning aided Benedictine in the second game as well. Holding a 1-0 lead, Benedictine scored six runs in the third, sending 10 to the plate.
Davidowski tallied three hits with Duszynski adding two.
Ashlyn Rapacz and
Leena Larrance both knocked home a pair of runs from the bottom of the lineup. Giammarese did not allow an earned run in working a complete game to grab the win.
Benedictine (3-1) will face Regis and Lebanon Valley on Sunday.
