Playing a neutral site game against a top-five team in the nation, the Benedictine University baseball team built an early lead and rallied late only to be walked off on by Baldwin Wallace on Sunday afternoon.
Brennan Fisher opened the scoring with a solo homer in the second inning. Another run would score on an error.
Logan Gregorio drilled a three-run homer in the third as Benedictine led 5-0. Baldwin Wallace came back with eight unanswered runs and held a 9-7 edge entering the ninth. Fisher singled home the first run and
DeShawnte Carraway followed with an RBI single to tie the game. Baldwin Wallace, playing as the home team, took advantage of a leadoff error, recording the walkoff win with one out.
Benedictine smacked 15 hits in the contest.
Kevin Bushnell, Gregorio and Fisher all tallied three. Bushnell also homered in the fifth inning. Carraway and
Ryan Doubek logged a pair of hits in the contest.
Nick Kosmetatos started and worked 3.1 innings.
JT Adams followed with 3.2 innings and
Nathan Buehrer tossed 1.1 to take the loss.
Benedictine (25-9) plays a huge conference doubleheader on the road at Illinois Tech on Tuesday.
