The Benedictine University baseball team dropped a 12-9 decision in a back-and-forth 10-inning affair against Coe in the opener of the NCAA Regionals on Friday afternoon.
DeShawnte Carraway put Benedictine ahead with an RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the first. Coe scored twice immediately in the top of the second and added a run in the fourth to open a 3-1 advantage.
Kevin Bushnell put Benedictine in front with one swing in the bottom of the fourth, smashing his 12th homer of the year, a three-run blast. Two more runs would score in the frame as Benedictine led 6-3.
Coe scored the next six runs to lead 9-6, slowly picking away with a run in the sixth and two in the seventh before jumping ahead with three in the eighth. Facing a three-run deficit and down to their final three outs, pinch hitter
Justin Nonnenmann tied the game with a three-run homer to send the contest to extras bu Coe scored three in the 10th to take the contest.

George Betevis and
David Rubin all logged two hits as Benedictine finished with 13. Andrew Kurca started and worked into the sixth inning. Five relievers finished out the game.
Benedictine (32-13) will need to win a pair of games on Saturday to avoid elimination. The first contest comes at 11:00am against Bethel, who dropped a 19-2 decision to the hosts from UW-La Crosse.
