The Benedictine University men's soccer team lost for the first time in conference play after Dominican University scored three goals in the final 12 minutes of the contest to steal a 3-1 win.
Dawid Molek handed Benedictine an early 1-0 lead by scoring in the 15th minute. The goal came in transition from one end to the other on a long start from goalie
Jordan Rolon to
Chris Reynoso to set up the score. The lead held all the way until the 78th minute when Dominican tied the game and then scored in the 81st and 83rd minutes to grab the win.
Both teams created plenty of chances with Dominican holding a 30-20 advantage in shots. Rolon, the three-time conference player of the week, stopped 10 shots in goal. Nine players posted shots for Benedictine led by five from David Szflarski.
Benedictine (4-3-1, 2-1 NACC) will host Lakeland on Saturday as part of the homecoming weekend festivities.
