The Benedictine University softball team swung to a pair of shortened wins on Sunday, scoring a 12-1 win in five over Emmanuel and an 8-0 win over St. Vincent in the second contest.
GAME ONE
Benedictine scored in four different innings to take the first game, plating six in the fourth.
Morgan Bruno scored three times, tallied two hits, drove home two and posted three of eight team steals.
Jasmine Lozano, Makenzie Johnson and
Lauren Bogard all racked up two hits.
Taylor Oppenhuis and Deutscher also knocked home two. Johnson tossed a complete game to earn the win.
GAME TWO
Benedictine scored six runs over the final two innings to notch a six-inning decision in the second contest.
Haley Barnes hit the first homer of the trip in the fifth inning after Benedictine took a 2-0 lead in the second. Deutscher led the way with three hits. Benedictine scored two in the fifth and four in the sixth to win the game. Bruno and Barnes both added two hits. Lozano spun a shutout in the win.
Benedictine (3-1) plays two more on Monday.
