The Benedictine University baseball team put up 34 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Illinois Tech at home, running their total for the week to 55 runs over three games.
BENEDICTINE 11, ILLINOIS TECH 5
Illinois Tech led twice early before Benedictine struck for three runs in the second to grab the advantage for good. The game was busted open behind three runs in the fourth. Benedictine scored in six of their eight visits to the plate.
JT Adams worked five innings to improve to 6-0 on the year.
Nicholas Rayyan threw four near perfect innings to pick up his first save. The offense totaled 12 hits and took advantage of five errors.
Zach Fell was 3-for-4 out of the ninth slot with two RBIs.

Nic Castrovillari and
Kevin Butler all posted two hits.

Benedictine drilled four homers and scored in all six trips to the plate to record the sweep.
After Illinois Tech scored in the top of the first, Benedictine put a nine-spot on the board in the bottom of the frame keyed by a grand slam from
Justin Nonnenmann.
Kyle Campbell homered in the fourth while Fisher connected on a pair of two-run blasts in the second and sixth to double his season total.
The offense clicked on all cylinders, finishing with 19 hits. Campbell was 5-for-6 at the plate while Betevis and Fisher both logged three hits. Eight members of the lineup tallied hits.
Nathan Buehrer grabbed the win in relief, throwing 2.2 innings.
Benedictine (23-15, 13-9 NACC) will welcome Rockford on Friday afternoon for senior day.
