George Betevis has been selected as a Third Team All-American by the ABCA/Rawlings.
Betevis led the NACC by hitting 15 homers, one of the highest totals in single season program history. The Hanover park, Ill. native hit .350 for the year with 17 doubles, 54 RBIs and a team high 12 steals. Betevis, who slugged .689, was also perfect in center field, consistently taking away hits. A graduate of Bartlett High School, Betevis rebounded from a slow start to hit safely in 32 of his 43 games played. Betevis posted a 15-game streak at the end of the season and was named as the honorable mention choice for national player of the week in the final week of the year. Betevis homered in nine games including five with multiple. Betevis slugged three homers at Carthage on April 28 to equal the conference mark.
Betevis was a First Team All-Region nod by both the ABCA and D3baseball.com. The All-Americans are selected from all the first team all-region nods by members of the ABCA All-American committee.
Benedictine finished the year 26-17. This is the third consecutive season in which Benedictine has had at least one individual named as an All-American.
