Baseball Drops Two Conference Contests

The Benedictine University baseball team dropped a pair of conference contests to Aurora on Wednesday.

THE DETAILS
- Aurora scored in the top of the first in the opener, plating a run with two outs
- Benedictine responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning to lead for the only time on the afternoon
- Steve Dabrowski and Preston Popovich recorded RBI singles with two outs to make the score 2-1
- Aurora answered with five in the top of the second, three in the third and a big nine-run fifth
- Benedictine scored two runs in four different innings
- Hank Friedrich doubled home a run in the second and Nic Castrovillari notched an RBI single
- Austin Affrunti was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Brayden Fell added a bases loaded walk in the fifth while Friedrich doubled home two in the seventh
- Aurora led 3-0 in the second game behind single runs in the first three innings
- Benedictine came back to tie the score
- Mike Budorick drove home a run with a groundout in the third while Popovich lofted a sacrifice fly in the fourth and Fell doubled home a run
- Aurora scored twice in the eighth to secure the sweep

STAT LEADERS
- Friedrich finished with three hits and three RBIs in the opener as Benedictine tallied 10 hits
- Five different pitchers appeared in the opener
- Ryan Uscila tossed 2.1 scoreless to close out the first game
- Friedrich tallied two more hits in the second contest
- Jason Gutkowski made his first start and tossed six innings, allowing just two earned runs in the second affair

Benedictine (7-10, 1-3 NACC) heads to Wisconsin Lutheran on Saturday for a pair of games. The location has been moved to Wisconsin Brewing COmpany Park in Oconomowoc.
