Softball Takes Two from Kalamazoo at Home

The Benedictine softball team picked up a pair of wins over Kalamazoo on Wednesday afternoon, earning a 7-0 shutout in game one before taking a 5-2 victory in game two.

THE DETAILS
-Benedictine opened the scoring in the first inning on an RBI single from Haley Barnes to bring home Morgan Bruno
-The Eagles added three runs in the second, beginning with an RBI double from Bruno
-Barnes followed with another RBI single before Alyssa Perkins lifted a sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 4-0
-Benedictine added two more runs in the fourth as Barnes picked up her third RBI of the game with a single before Taylor Oppenhuis drove in a run with a single
-The Eagles capped the scoring in the sixth on an RBI single from Perkins to make it 7-0

STAT LEADERS
-Haley Barnes led the offense with three hits, two runs scored, and three RBIs
-Morgan Bruno added three hits, two runs scored, and an RBI
-Alyssa Perkins recorded two hits and two RBIs
-Mckenzie Johnson tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing just two hits while striking out seven

THE DETAILS
-Kalamazoo struck first in the opening inning but Benedictine answered right away on an RBI double from Haley Barnes
-The Eagles took the lead in the second with an RBI double from Mia Giammarese to score Jasmine Lozano
-Kalamazoo evened the game in the third but Benedictine responded once again as Alyssa Perkisn delivered an RBI double to put the Eagles back in front
-Benedictine added runs in the fourth and sixth innings to secure the victory
