Baseball Drops Two One-Run Decisions

The Benedictine University baseball team dropped two near identical contests on the road Saturday, falling twice to Concordia Wisconsin.

THE DETAILS
- Concordia Wisconsin walked off in both contests
- Benedictine led 4-0 in the first game
- Justin Nonnenmann set the tone with a homer in the top of the first
- Hank Friedrich and Mike Budorick both drove home runs in the fourth while Nonnenmann made it 4-0 with a fielder's choice in the sixth
- The hosts were able to tie the game in the last of the eighth and won on a homer in the 10th
- The second contest also saw Benedictine grab an early lead with two runs in the first
- Nonnenmann opened the scoring in the first with an RBI single and Tommy Jusi, Jr. added to the edge with a fielder's choice
- Runs in the second and third tied the game for the hosts before Benedictine again built the lead, tallying a run in the fourth and two in the seventh
- Spencer Geake singled home a run in the fourth and homered in the seventh while Budorick added an RBI groundout
- Concordia Wisconsin tied the game at 5-5 with three in the bottom of the seventh and won with four singles in the ninth despite having a runner thrown out at home

STAT LEADERS
- Benedictine totaled 10 hits in the opener
- Friedrich, Jusi and Preston Popovich all posted two
- The team also stole four bases
- Braden Behrens worked 7.1 innings in the first game but did not factor in the decision
- Jusi and Geake both posted a pair of hits in the second game
- Conner Kendall worked into the ninth but suffered the loss after tossing 8.1 innings

Benedictine (12-16, 6-8 NACC) plays a non-conference game at Illinois Wesleyan on Tuesday
