Softball Responds in Game Two to Split with Concordia Wisconsin

The Benedictine softball team split a NACC doubleheader with Concordia Wisconsin on Saturday, dropping a close opener before bouncing back with a strong offensive performance in game two.

THE DETAILS
-Concordia Wisconsin struck early with two runs in the first inning to take the lead
-Benedictine got on the board in the fourth with an RBI single from Mia Giammarese
-Concordia added a run in the fifth to extend the lead to 3-1
-The Eagles answered in the sixth as Giammarese delivered her second RBI single of the game
-Benedictine threatened late but was unable to complete the comeback

-Mia Giammarese recorded two hits and drove in both runs
-Haley Barnes scored both runs and added two hits
-Jasmine Lozano added a hit and a walk
-Mckenzie Johnson went the distance, allowing three runs on nine hits

-Benedictine jumped out early with three runs in the first inning behind RBI hits from Alyssa Perkins, Taylor Oppenhuis, and Mia Giammarese

-The Eagles broke the game open in the sixth inning with a three-run home run from Haley Barnes
-Benedictine held Concordia scoreless over the final four innings to secure the win
