Softball Powers Past Alverno Behind Big Offensive Day

The Benedictine softball team powered its way to a dominant doubleheader sweep over Alverno on Tuesday, using explosive offense in both games to secure two convincing wins.

THE DETAILS
-Benedictine opened the scoring in the second inning on an RBI triple from Lauryn Olson
-The Eagles broke things open in the third with three runs, highlighted by RBI hits from Haley Barnes and Taylor Oppenhuis
-After Alverno got on the board in the fourth, Benedictine responded with three more runs, extending the lead to 7-1
-Alverno rallied for three runs in the fifth to cut into the deficit
-Benedictine answered immediately with a five-run inning, using timely hitting from Lauren Bogard and Alyssa Perkins to secure the run-rule victory
