Softball Collects Two Wins at Rockford

The Benedictine softball team picked up two conference wins at Rockford on Sunday, defeating the Regents 7-4 and 12-2.

THE DETAILS
-Benedictine struck first in game one, taking advantage of an error before adding an RBI single from Morgan Bruno in the second
-Rockford answered to tie the game, but the Eagles responded with a four-run fifth inning to take control
-Taylor Oppenhuis, Mia Giammarese, and Alyssa Perkisn each drove in runs during the big inning
-Benedictine added a run in the sixth and held off a late Rockford push to secure the 7-4 win
-In game two, the Eagles jumped out early with a two-run first inning behind a Victoria Duszynski single
-Haley Barnes extended the lead with a two-run home run in the third inning
-The Eagles plated three runs in the fifth and added runs in the sixth and seventh to break the game open

STAT LEADERS
-Mckenzie Johnson struck out nine in game one
-Claire Stillwell picked up the game two win in relief, striking out 11 over five innings
-Haley Barnes drove in five runs in game two, finishing with a home run and double
-Victoria Duszynski tallied three hits and three RBIs in game two
-Benedictine finished with 26 hits on the day
