eSports at the Benedictine University
eSports is truly a global phenomenon. A fast-growing billion-dollar industry, the term eSports describes the world of competitive, organized video gaming. Competitors from different leagues or teams face off in the same games that are popular with at-home gamers. At the highest levels, these gamers are watched and followed by millions of fans all over the world, who attend live events or tune in on TV or online, often via streaming services such as Twitch. Benedictine is proud to be a leader in this space and to provide our students with a variety of opportunities for participation.
The addition of eSports will give BenU four varsity sports, as the team will be open to all students.
Benedictine recognizes that adding eSports fills an unmet participation desire for current and future BenU students. eSports will furnish team members not only a dedicated space to compete but also the benefits of being on a team, which will provide fellowship between student-athletes, coaching, mentorship, academic support and Eagle pride.

Don't worry, this team isn't just for gamers. You can get involved in a few different ways.
- Compete on a varsity team
- Be a student coach, scout or opponent analyst
- Be a streamer or moderator on our partnered Twitch page or be a host, editor, writer, or director for our YouTube page
- Be an active part of the eSports community
We'll have everything you need right here on campus. We're creating a practice and competition facility just for the eSports and gaming program.
