Joe Silva joined the Benedictine staff in 2019 following a successful career at Concordia University Chicago, where he played for and was recruited by Benedictine head coach Adam Smith.
Silva began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at North Park before coming to Benedictine in a full-time capacity for 2019.
Silva, who was named to the D3baseball.com All-Decade Team from the 2010s, is the all-time leader in at-bats (731), doubles (84), steals (84), single season hits (88, 2nd overall in Division III in 2018), and single season runs (64) at Concordia Chicago. Silva finished his career just three hits shy of Concordia- Chicago’s hits record with 250.
Silva also owns several conference records, games played (193), games started (191), at-bats (731), runs (201), stolen bases (84), and single season at-bats (231). With 88 hits in 2018, Silva was one hit shy of the single season conference mark.
A two-time NACC Player of the Year (2016 and 2018), Silva was a three-time all-conference choice. His summer baseball resume includes an All-Star selection and Game MVP of the Futures Collegiate Summer Baseball League of New England.
Silva finalized his senior season in 2018 with 88 hits, a .381 batting average, 64 runs scored, 16 doubles, 44 runs batted in, and 24 stolen bases. This earned him multiple honors, including; NAAC Player of the Year, 1st Team All-Midwest Region (by Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association and D3baseball.com), and 1st Team All-NACC recognition.
Silva appeared in two Division III World Series and started every NCAA Tournament game that Concordia Chicago played.
