Howell joined the Benedictine staff in 2017, working as the cornerbacks coach.
A graduate of Millikin University, Howell worked in the high school ranks from 1988-2016 at Lemont High School. Howell served as the defensive coordinator from 2002 onward. Lemont reached the IHSA Playoffs 12 times, reaching the state championship game three times and twice advancing to the semifinals. Lemont won 10 conference titles and posted five unbeaten regular seasons while winning 13 games in 2008 and 2014 to set the school record. Howell also served as the co-stength and conditioning coach.
