Staple arrived at Benedictine for the 2021 season as the second coach in program history and guided the team to the national championship match.
Staple was named as the NACC Coach of the Year in his first season at the helm and helped a pair of players earn All-America status. Benedictine reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history in 2021 and won three matches in three days before falling in five set in the national championship.
Staple served as an assistant for both the men’s and women’s programs at McKendree University since August of 2017.
Staple was the winner of the 2017 AVCA Diversity Award. The award recognizes coaches for leadership skills, professional development and promoting inclusiveness within the sport of volleyball.
Originally from the Chicago suburbs, Staple has a diverse volleyball resume. Staple serves as a high performance coach for USA Volleyball and also coached at the NCAA Division III level at North Central while also working at the club and high school level.
