Kate Heidkamp, one of the most decorated pitchers in NCAA Division III history, took over the reigns of the Benedictine softball program in 1998. The softball field on campus was dedicated as Heidkamp Field during the 2023 season.

THE HEIDKAMP FILES
• Has over 600 career wins and a .661 winning percentage
• Has earned the conference automatic bid to the NCAA Championship in seven seasons since joining the NACC
• Posted five consecutive 30-win seasons from 2014-2018
• In 2016, her team tied for the most wins in school history (38) and surpassed the most hits in a season record (478)
• Her 2016 team advanced to the NCAA Super Regional for the first time since the 1993 season when Heidkamp was a pitcher for the Eagles

CONFERENCE ACCOLADES
• Has coached 85 all-conference honorees
• Has coached six Player of the Year selections including 2017's Holly Haberkorn who was also named Benedictine's first-ever NACC Woman of the Year
• Named the conference Coach of the Year seven times
• Has won the NACC Tournament title seven times

AS A PLAYER AT BENEDICTINE
• Four year starter for both the softball and tennis teams
• Earned All-Conference honors four times
• Helped her team make the NCAA Appearance three times (1993, 1994, and 1995)
• As a freshmen, she went 22-2 in the circle for a .917 winning percentage which still ranks amongst the best ever in NCAA DIII history
• Earned All-American honors each season, culminating with a first-team selection in 1996
• Ranks among the NCAA DIII leaders in victories (80), winning percentage (.860), innings pitched (645.2), strikeouts (545), shutouts (41), and earned run average (0.73)
