Cat Thoreson joined the Benedictine University Athletics family in 2013 as Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach.
In her second season at the helm in 2015, Thoreson guided Benedictine to their first ever appearance in the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference Tournament, winning on the last day of the season to qualify. Benedictine closed the regular season with wins in three of the final four contests to reach the tournament.
Benedictine has won four games in each of her two seasons, but the student-athletes have earned recognition on and off the field. Three women's lacrosse players were honored by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association for their work in the classroom in the fall of 2015. Additionally, three student-athletes earned All-MWLC status in 2015 for the first time in program history.
Prior to joining the Eagles, Thoreson was the Assistant Women’s Lacrosse Coach at North Central College. She helped lead the Cardinals to their first perfect home record (7-0), first semi-final win in Midwest Women’s Lacrosse Conference (MWLC) Tournament play and an MWLC record of three shutouts.
Thoreson played for Hofstra University’s Division I women’s lacrosse program in Hempstead, NY from 2005 to 2009. In 2007, the Pride were ranked in the nation’s top 20, won the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championship and made an NCAA Tournament appearance. Beyond her accomplishments on the field, Thoreson was also a standout in the classroom, graduating from Hofstra’s Honors College in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations.
Pursuing a number of roles in the corporate world since 2009, Thoreson has worked for MS&L Worldwide, Likeable Media and Restaurant.com among others. Most recently, she was the Director of Marketing and Brand Management at Planet Fitness Chicago.
