David returns for his third year with Benedictine after helping coach the team to its first ever conference tournament appearance. This year he will be working with the goalies and defense. Coach Gunn will also be heavily involved with the recruiting process for incoming freshmen and transfer students.
Gunn has been playing and coaching for a combination of fourteen years. His coaching experience is a mixture of personal training, team coaching, and directing programs. He has conducted personal lacrosse training sessions through Sports Made Personal out of Glenview, Ill. He trains both male and female athletes in all positions of lacrosse, although goalie training is his specialty. He has also directed the Park Ridge division of the Lacrosse America spring lacrosse program, where one of his teams won the program championship with an undefeated record. In addition, he has coached various indoor teams and tournaments. Gunn is also helping coach at Notre Dame College Prep High School.
As a player, David was awarded the honor of All State for North Carolina as an attackman during a twenty goal and twenty assist season. He has also been awarded Most Valuable Defensive Player and All Conference in North Carolina for his work in the goalie position. David still plays on the Windy City Lacrosse Club team and in various pick-up leagues throughout the year.
