Eagles Fly Past Falcons

LISLE, Ill. – The Benedictine University football team defeated Concordia University-Wisconsin 32-6 to remain undefeated in Northern Athletics Conference action on Saturday afternoon at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex.
Both teams entered the game with a perfect 2-0 conference record and it was the Eagles who came out on top and are now 4-2 overall and 3-0 in the NAC. Concordia-Wisconsin moves to 2-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
The Eagles defense had one of their best games of the season. Gabe McMillan kicked off the game with an interception on a Falcon fourth down, setting up the Eagles offense at the 50-yard line. Preston Earl found Mike Trombetta in the end zone on a six-play 40-yard drive. After a successful #L.J. Stolarski# kick attempt, the Eagles took a 7-0 lead. 

After the Benedictine defense once again shut down the Concordia offense, Stolarski put BenU up 10-0 with a 28-yard field goal to end the first quarter.

John Borsellino scored his first touchdown of the game in the second quarter, rushing for 15 yards to give BenU a 16-0 lead.
Kicker Dan Winsey put the Falcons on the board after three consecutive incomplete passes with a 47 yard field goal to send CUW into the locker room at the half down 16-3.
The first drive of the second half saw the Eagles take a 19-3 lead with a 34-yard field goal from Stolarski. The Eagle defense showed what they were made of when Mike Hatfield intercepted a pass from Patri Czerwiak to return it three yards to the CUW 48-yard line. The very first play of the drive, Earl found Borsellino for a 33-yard touchdown pass to take a 25-3 lead over the Falcons. 

Concordia-Wisconsin ended the third quarter with a 51-yard field goal kick from Winsey to go down 25-6. The Eagles would end the scoring in the first drive of the fourth quarter, an eight-yard rush to Borsellino to secure the Eagles 32-6 win over the Falcons.
Benedictine finished the game with 349 total yards, 164 on the ground and 211 in the air. Borsellino had 74 yards on 21 carries and tallied three touchdowns while Eric Ritter registered 20 yards on six carries. Trombetta led the receivers with eight catches for 118 yards while Earl completed 14-of-24 passes for 211 yards.
On the defensive side, Al Sarno led the Eagles with nine total tackles while #J.T. Zimmerman had eight and Trent Altieri# totaled six. Hatfield had four solo tackles. 

The Eagles are back in action next weekend when they host Maranatha Baptist Bible College on Saturday, October 23 at 1:00 p.m. at the Sports Complex.
