Eagles Defeated by North Park

LISLE, Ill. – Down 28-33 at half time, the Benedictine University women's basketball team could not overcome their deficit in the second half, falling 69-59 to North Park University on Tuesday night at the Dan and Ada Rice Center.
 
The Eagles (3-3) had a six-point lead with five minutes into the game after Karyn Conerty and Lidia Arias connected for two layups and a three-pointer.
 
 
The Vikings offense picked up the tempo and slowly cut the Eagle lead down, eventually tying the game with less than ten minutes left in the first half. North Park took the lead after a jumper from Lyndsay Thompson and extended their lead to eight. Benedictine cut the lead down to five when Conerty hit a three at the buzzer.
 
North Park took a commanding 13-point lead to start the second half. The Eagles would cut the Viking lead to five with eight minutes left with jumpers from Tracey Walsh but it wasn't enough as NPU went on to win the game, 69-59.
 
 
Walsh led the Eagles with 14 points and had six rebounds while Conerty and Jillian Lipman also scored in double-figures, tallying 11 and 10 points each. Arias had a team high nine rebounds and scored eight points.
 
 
As a team, Benedictine was 32.8 percent from the field (20-for-61) while North Park shot 38.1 percent (24-for-63). The Eagles had 16 turnovers compared to NPU's 14 and were out-rebounded 47-42.
 
North Park's Roxanne Jones led all players with 17 points.
