Lisle, Illinois - The Benedictine University women's basketball team sealed its slot in the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) Tournament by using strong shooting to avenge an earlier loss to Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) with a 69-55 victory Monday at the Dan and Ada Rice Center.

It took more than eight minutes for Benedictine to take its first lead of the contest, but a three-pointer by Colleen Forkin broke an 8-8 tie and put the Eagles up 11-8 with 11:39 left in the first half. The three-pointer was part of an 11-2 run as the Eagles never trailed the rest of the contest. Benedictine went up by as many as 10 points before closing the half on a 5-0 run to lead 35-22 at the intermission.

Benedictine led by as many as 20 points in the second half. After MSOE trimmed the lead to 47-41, the Eagles used a 14-2 run midway through the half to put the game out of reach. The Eagles shot 51.9 percent (27 of 52) in the contest and scored 18 fastbreak points.

Four players reached double figures for the Eagles. Jenn Bren had 15 points and 15 rebounds. Monika Krozel and Sam Hathaway netted 13 points each. Lidia Arias contributed 12 points to go with six steals and four assists. Carol Cayo led MSOE with 15.

The Eagles, who have not lost in seven games on the new floor at the Rice Center and have won seven of the last eight games, have participated in every NAC postseason tournament.

Monday’s contest was a makeup of a game initially scheduled for February 9 that was postponed due to snow.

Benedictine (12-10, 10-7 NAC) will conclude the regular season at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday when it hosts Concordia University Chicago.
