KISSIMMEE, Florida - The Benedictine University softball team opened the 2010 season with a pair of 6-5 victories in Florida.
The season opened with a 6-5 win over Carthage College of the CCIW.
Erin Galloway (Dwight, Ill.) paced the offense by going 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI.
Brittany Adcox (Plainfield, Ill.) started in the circle and went the distance but surrendered a pair of homers. Adcox allowed five earned runs on just five hits. She helped her own cause at the plate by going 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI.
The Eagles followed with an identical 6-5 victory over Trine University, an NCAA Playoff team last season out of the MIAA. Benedictine used four different hurlers in the contest.
Sam Corban (Plainfield, Ill.) started but left the contest in the third with the Eagles up after walking three and surrendering a pair of runs on five hits.
Brittney Carnell (Elburn, Ill.) was next, earning the victory by tossing four innings of relief. She allowed one run on four hits.
Kaitlin Walsh (Schaumburg, Ill.) started the seventh before
Brittany Adcox entered to post the final three outs and record the save.
Offensively Benedictine posted 10 hits.
Brittany Wolski (Orland Park, Ill.) finished 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs, a stolen base, and a run scored.
Brittany Adcox also had a three-hit game, going 3-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
