BENEDICTINE 6, WISCONSIN LUTHERAN 2 -- Game One

Benedictine started the Sunday sweep in convincing fashion behind the arm of

Benedictine got on the board early, scoring three runs in the second. Kevin Ross platted a pair with a 2-run single while shortstop Nick Karakosta's sac fly scored designated hitter Colin Gilreath.

Wisconsin Lutheran (4-15, 3-5 in NAC) answered back in their half of the second as Jake Thorsteins' RBI single cut the Benedictine advantage to two.

Benedictine would cushion their lead in the seventh inning when outfielder Mitch McMeen and Karakosta each scored on a dropped ball in the Wisconsin Lutheran outfield. Gilreath followed a Kevin Hendricks single, scoring Gino Miglio and giving the Eagles a 6-1 lead. Gilreath went 3-4 with an RBI and run scored.

Wisconsin Lutheran would grab a run of their own in the bottom of the seventh as Kukulski made way for reliever Dan Jedlowski.

Jedlowski allowed two Warrior hits, but was able to end any Wisconsin Lutheran threat with a strikeout of Joe Picone to end the inning.

Pat Collis relieved Jedlowski again shutting down the Warriors, allowing only one hit in his inning of work.

BENEDICTINE 11, WISCONSIN LUTHERAN 1 -- Game Two

Benedictine scored early and often in the second game of the doubleheader storming out of the gates to take an 8-0 lead after two innings.

Jimmy Janchenko's started off the rally when a hit by pitch allowed Ulises Ortiz to score giving Benedictine the 1-0 advantage after one.

Josh Zenawick singled in the second scoring Kevin Ross, while Colin Gilreath followed with a 2-run single. Janchenko notched his second RBI on the game when a single up the middle scored Zenawick.

Tom Higgins followed Gilreath's lead with a 2-run single while Kevin Ross, who began the inning for the Eagles, drove in Janchenko with a sacrifice fly.

Benedictine would add insurance runs in the fifth and seventh innings.

Dan Zust singled in the fifth and seventh scoring Hendricks and Janchenko. Higgins scored on a passed ball in the seventh giving Benedictine the eventual 11-1 victory.

Zust finished the game a perfect 3-3 at the plate and tied for a team-high two RBIs. Janchenko followed suit going 2-2, with two runs, two RBIs as well as two walks.
