Rockford, Ill. – Benedictine softball continued its winning ways Tuesday in Rockford extending its win streak to ten, while maintaining a perfect 9-0 in Northern Athletics Conference competition.
BENEDICTINE 9, ROCKFORD 1 -- Game One
Benedictine pitcher
Brittany Adcox continued her dominating performance on the year allowing only one run in seven innings.
The NAC Pitcher of the Week scattered only two hits over seven innings while striking out 11.
Right fielder
Aimee Mahoney hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning igniting a four-run Benedictine inning. Mahoney went 3-4 with three RBIs.
Stephanie Rybarczyk also picked up an RBI in the fourth scoring designated hitter
Sam Corban. Rybarczyk matched Mahoney with three RBIs, going 2-4.
Kara Walsh reached base thanks to a Rockford error, which also allowed
Brittany Wolski to come around for the score. In addition to the run, Wolski picked up a pair of hits and drew a walk in seventh inning.
BENEDICTINE 16, ROCKFORD 0 (Six Innings) -- Game Two
Benedictine exploded for a 16 runs over six innings while Benedictine pitchers combined to allow a mere four hits.
While not a season-high, Benedictine’s 16 runs was their most since consecutive 19 run outbursts earlier this month against Maranatha Baptist Bible College.
Stephanie Rybarczyk was a perfect 4-4 at the plate, with four RBIs while starting pitcher
Sam Corban helped her own cause going 3-4 with two RBIs and four runs scored.
Benedictine jumped out to a 5-0 lead after three. The Eagles added two more in the 5th when a Corban single scored
Kara Walsh. Rybarczyk followed with a single scoring Corban giving Benedictine 7-0 lead going into the sixth.
In the sixth, Benedictine blew the game open with
Brittany Wolski,
Kara Walsh,
Cassie Cappetto,
Erin Galloway,
Aimee Mahoney and
Laura Christensen all collected RBIs in the nine run, ten hit inning.
Corban followed up
Brittany Adcox’s gem earlier in the day allowing a mere three hits over five innings, striking out three.
Kaitlin Walsh pitched a nearly perfect inning of relief allowing only one Rockford hit.
Benedictine returns to action Wednesday as they host Concordia University Chicago in NAC play.
