GAME TWO

LISLE, Ill. --
The Benedictine University softball team played its final home games of the year against Concordia Wisconsin on Tuesday afternoon and needed extra innings in both games to up its win streak to 18 games.

BENEDICTINE 1, CONCORDIA WISCONSIN 0 -- GAME ONE (10 Innings)
The Eagles needed 10 innings to extend their winning streak to 17 games. The contest was the first game of the season to require extra-innings.

Neither school was able to get much going against the other's top pitcher. The visitors managed only four hits in the entire game, but had a great opportunity in the fourth. Jenna DiMaggio doubled to begin the frame and was lifted for a pinch runner who moved up on a groundout. The Falcons attempted a squeeze play but Jess Fijolek fielded the bunt cleanly charging from third and flipped to the plate to nail the runner.

The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the 10th. Aimee Mahoney led off with a triple to right-center off Concordia ace Danielle Burke. The throw came in and sailed into the Benedictine dugout, allowing Mahoney to score and give the Eagles the victory.

Brittany Adcox pitched all 10 innings, allowing just four hits to go along with a walk and eight strikeouts.

BENEDICTINE 2, CONCORDIA WISCONSIN 1 -- GAME TWO (Eight Innings)
The second game also needed extra innings to complete as Benedictine University walked off with a 2-1 victory on Cassie Cappetto's game-winning hit.

Benedictine jumped on the board in the bottom of the second. Cassie Cappetto led off with a single and scored from first on a double to the wall in left off the bat of Erin Galloway.

Concordia Wisconsin, who represented the NAC in the NCAA Tournament last season, knotted the score in the top of the third. Chelsie Strosina drove in the tying run but Sam Corban worked out of trouble and left two runners on base.

Corban did not factor in the decision, tossing 6.2 innings. Brittany Adcox earned the win with 1.1 innings of scoreless relief. Corban did work around trouble in the fifth. Following a one-out triple, the go ahead run was thrown out at the plate. The Falcons also had two on with no outs in the sixth before rolling into an inning ending double play and stranded runners at the corners in the seventh.

Cappetto's late-inning heroics were set up by a one-out single from Brittany Wolski. Kara Walsh followed by working the count to coax a walk to set up Cappetto's game winning hit to left.

Benedictine (27-4, 16-0) will play on the road Saturday at Marian University.
