BOXSCORE
FOND DU LAC, Wis. -- It took an additional day due to rain on Friday, but 12th year Benedictine University Head Softball Coach Kate Keller recorded her 300th victory as the Eagles rallied past Marian University 3-2 on Saturday morning in Wisconsin.
Marian University scored twice in the fourth inning against Benedictine starter
Sam Corban. Back-to-back doubles put the Sabres ahead and a second run crossed on a wild pitch.
Brittany Adcox entered in relief of Corban in the fifth and kept the hosts at bay, throwing three innings and allowing just one hit while striking out four to pick up her 19th victory of the season.
The Eagles rallied in the sixth inning to take the lead by scoring three times.
Sam Corban tallied a bases loaded single to tie the contest with no outs. The go ahead run came in on an error.
Benedictine mustered seven hits in the contest, coming from seven different individuals.
Keller is the second winningest coach in Benedictine history, trailing only Deb DiMatteo, who boasts 331. Ironically, Keller played for DiMatteo for two seasons while a student-athlete at Benedictine. Keller won her 200th game during the 2007 campaign. The 32 victories for the 2010 squad are the most since 2001 when Benedictine finished 34-14.
The Eagles (32-5, 21-1), who are ranked eighth in the Great Lakes Region, can claim a share of their first ever Northern Athletics Conference title with one victory at MSOE on Sunday in the season finale. A sweep would give Benedictine its first title outright.
