Tracey Walsh tied for a game-high 17 points on Saturday afternoon but it wasn't enough as Benedictine University dropped a 62-54 decision to Edgewood College.
Edgewood (3-4, 3-2 NAC) got out to an early lead but a jumper from
Kam Haifleigh tied the game at 15:31. A
Katie Hunzinger basket gave Benedictine (2-7, 1-4 NAC) the lead and BenU held on to that lead for the next nine minutes, going up by as many as five.
Edgewood would hit a three-pointer that would spark a 12-0 run that lasted through the half to go up 32-25 at the half.
The second half saw EC keep the momentum and go up by as many as 17 with 10:48 left in the game. Benedictine would chop at the lead and got to within six points after a Hunzinger jumper with just two minutes remaining. Benedictine would miss three attempts in the final minute of play to let Edgewood take home the 62-54 victory.
Walsh led BenU with 17 points, going 8-19 from the field, and tallying seven rebounds and three steals. Hunzinger and Megan Novak each scored 12 points.
As a team, Benedictine was out-rebounded 52-30. The Eagles shot 38.2 percent from the field.
Alison Tobin led Edgewood with 17 points.
