RIVER FOREST, Ill. - Despite scoring 33 points in the second half, the Benedictine University women's basketball team dropped a 66-52 decision to Northern Athletics Conference opponent, Concordia University-Chicago on Tuesday night.
Benedictine (2-6, 1-3 NAC) took a one-point lead early in the first half on a three-pointer from
Michelle Gaede, but Concordia-Chicago (2-5, 1-3 NAC) would go on a 13-0 run and take a 33-19 lead at half time.
Even though the Eagles and Cougars would both score 33 points in the second half, it wasn't enough as CUC would go on to win their first NAC game of the season, 66-52.
Katie Hunzinger scored a team high 16 points on 4-9 from the field and also had five rebounds and three steals. Gaede scored 11 points and tallied five rebounds while
Kam Haifleigh had a game high 11 rebounds and six points.
As a team the Eagles were 17-53 from the floor (32.1 percent) with 40 rebounds. The Eagles did have 22 turnovers and were just 1-25 from behind the arc.
Concordia's Bobbie May scored 18 points with seven assists. The Cougars had 41 rebounds and nine steals as a team.
Benedictine travels to Edgewood College on Saturday afternoon to take on the Eagles at 2:00 p.m.
