LISLE, Ill. – Coming off of a great win on Tuesday night against Concordia Chicago, the Eagles (13-7, 9-5) hope to put away Milwaukee School of Engineering (7-14, 4-10) at the Dan and Ada Rice Center tonight in a game that was supposed to be played last Wednesday, Feb. 1. The game was postponed twice due to the blizzard last week, and the women's basketball team is anxious to get out on to the court.
In their last game against MSOE, the Eagles snatched a victory (80-69) behind the excellent second half play of sophomore
Colleen Forkin and senior
Karyn Conerty. Forkin shot 5-8 from the field to post 15 points and also grabbed three steals. Conerty went 5-6 from behind the arc to add 17 points of her own.
Despite their star center, Carol Cayo, recently scoring her 1,000 career point as a Raider, MSOE has not been gathering too many wins as they currently sit in fifth place in the South Division with only Aurora beneath them. Cayo, however, as only a junior, is definitely a player that the Eagles must look to shut down in order to win.
One aspect of their game that the Eagles have recently been excelling in is rebounding. In their previous game against CUC, the Eagles pulled down 42 rebounds, ten of them offensive. Senior center
Jenn Bren pulled down a team-high nine, while junior
Tracey Walsh and seniors
Lidia Arias and
Sam Hathaway each grabbed six of their own. The Eagles also had eight steals as a team.
Benedictine continues to battle in conference play, fighting tooth and nail to reach the fourth overall spot in the NAC. Edgewood (13-8, 11-4) currently sits in this spot, behind the North Division's Concordia Wisconsin and Wisconsin Lutheran, and the South Division's Dominican University. Our BenU Eagles are currently a game and a half behind the Eagles of Edgewood.
