ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Benedictine University baseball team opened up the season with three wins in St. Louis, Mo. over the weekend. The Eagles beat Cornell College 8-1 and then defeated Fontbonne University twice, 11-1 and 13-3.
Several of the Eagles had stand-out performances; including
Tim Gindville who batted .667 in three games with six hits, four runs, two doubles and seven RBI.
Tom Higgins had five hits, with one double and had five RBI for a .500 batting average while
Josh Zenawick hit .462 with four runs, six hits, two doubles and three RBI.
On the mound
Matt Vucovich,
Matt Strle and
Mark Belcastro picked up wins for the Eagles. All of the pitchers combined for a 1.57 ERA with 19 strikeouts and gave up just 14 hits and five runs in 23 innings
