CHICAGO, Ill. - The Benedictine University softball team remained undefeated in Northern Athletics Conference action on Wednesday night, sweeping Concordia University-Chicago 2-0 and 11-3.
In game one,
Brittany Adcox picked up her tenth win of the season, giving up five hits and striking out five in the effort.
The Eagles scored one run in the second inning when
Cassie Cappetto hit her second home run of the season. Benedictine tallied their final run in the seventh after
Steff Rybarczyk singled and then stole second and was driven in with a single from
Jess Fijolek to win 2-0.
Benedictine won game two 11-3 after taking a 5-0 lead after two and a half innings. Concordia-Chicago cut their deficit to two, tallying three runs in the bottom of the frame.
The Eagle offense remained hot, tallying three runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take home the 11-3 win.
Sam Corban got the start, pitching 3.1 innings and Adcox pitched 1.2 innings in relief.
At the plate, Corban and Rybarczyk were 2-4 while
Kelly Mieszala was 2-3 with a run scored. As a team, the Eagles had seven stolen bases.
The BenU softball team is back in action this weekend when they travel to Maranatha Baptist for a 3:00 p.m. doubleheader.
