MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Benedictine University softball team opened up Northern Athletics Conference action with two wins over Wisconsin Lutheran College on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles defeated the Warriors 11-2 in game one and won 16-0 in the nightcap.
Brittany Adcox picked up the win in game one for BenU, pitching six strikeouts in 7.0 innings.
The Eagles scored three runs in the first inning with hits from
Brittany Wolski,
Steff Rybarczyk and a triple from
Cassie Cappetto. The Warriors would add a run of their own in the first and second innings but after scoring one run in the third, Benedictine used a seven-run seventh inning to take home the 11-2 win.
At the plate, Wolski was 4-5 with two runs and two stolen bases while Cappetto was 3-4 with five RBI.
In game two,
Sam Corban received the win giving up just two hits in 4.0 innings with four strikeouts.
The Eagles once again scored three runs in the first inning and had a monster second inning that saw Rybarczyk hit a two-run homerun as the Eagles scored six runs off of four hits and two WLC errors.
The BenU offensive threat continued in the third inning when the Eagles tallied four more runs that included singles from
Kelly Mieszala, Adcox,
Kara Walsh and a double from Wolski.
The Eagles added three more runs in the fifth off of three hits to secure the 16-0 victory and the sweep over Wisconsin Lutheran.
Wolski was 2-3 with two runs and Adcox was 3-4 with with three runs and three RBI. Rybarczyk was 2-2 with three RBI as the Eagles tallied 14 hits in the game.
Benedictine is back in action on Sunday afternoon when they host Rockford College in a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 p.m.
