LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University softball team swept Milwaukee School of Engineering on Sunday night, defeating the Raiders 10-0 and 11-9. Sunday's games also marked senior day where
Cassie Cappetto,
Steff Rybarczyk, Kaitlin MItchell and
Sam Corban were honored.
Brittany Adcox received the win in game one, allowing just three hits in 4.0 innings with four strikeouts. The Eagles (31-5, 19-1 NAC) scored eight runs in the first two innings and saw doubles from Cappetto,
Brittany Adcox and
Kara Walsh.
Benedictine secured their fate in the third, tallying two more runs for the 10-0 win in five innings. At the plate, Wolski and Adcox were 2-3 while MItchell was 1-2. Cappetto was 2-3 with three RBI and
Sam Corban had two hits.
The Raiders (10-24, 6-18) got out to an early 1-0 lead in game two, but the Eagles answered right back with two runs of their own in the bottom of the frame. Benedictine's offense would not quit as they added two more runs in the second and four runs in the third to go up 8-1.
In the fourth, MSOE's bats came alive and they tied the game off of five hits and two BenU errors. In the bottom of the inning, Benedictine added three more runs to take an 11-8 lead that included singles from Cappetto, Rybarczyk,
Jess Fijolek,
Brittany Wolski and
Laura Christensen.
The Raiders came close to tying the game, tallying one more run in the 6th but it wasn't enough as BenU went on to win 11-9.
Adcox received the win in game two, allowing just one run and had five strikeouts in 3.2 innings. Wolski was 2-4 with an RBI while Christensen was 3-4 with four RBI. Corban and Rybarczyk were both 2-4.
Benedictine is back in action on Monday night when they host Lakeland College at 7:00 p.m. at the Sports Complex.
