AURORA, Ill. - After defeating the No. 1 seeded Concordia University-Chicago 13-3 on Saturday morning, the Benedictine University baseball team dropped an 8-4 decision to the No. 2 seed Aurora University at Solfisburg Park. The loss marks their first of the Northern Athletics Conference Tournament.
Aurora took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning and added two more runs in the third.Even though the Eagles scored a run in the bottom of the frame, the Spartans offense continued to dominate as they scored two more runs in the fourth and eighth inning for the 8-4 victory.
David Nowaczyk received the loss allowing just three earned runs with six strikeouts in 7.0 innings since the BenU defense committed five errors on defense.
At the plate,
Nick Karakosta was 2-5 while
Uli Ortiz and
Kevin Hendricks each tallied two hits.
Josh Zenawick was 3-4 with an RBI.
Benedictine takes on Concordia-Chicago at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday morning at Solfisburg Park. If they win, BenU will take on AU at 12:30 p.m.
