Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. - The Benedictine University softball team went 2-0 on day three of their Spring Break Tour, defeating Plymouth State, 9-8, in nine innings of action and then beating Colby College, 10-6 in game two.
The Eagles (3-3) were up 5-0 after three innings of play in game one until Plymouth State scored one run in the fourth and then tallied three runs in the sixth. Plymouth State tied it up in the seventh and the Eagles could not score in the bottom of the frame to force extra innings.
After PSU scored three runs in the eighth, the Eagles offense came alive to also score three and tie the game at eight. In the ninth,
Brittany Adcox and the Eagle defense held Plymouth State scoreless and
Brittany Wolski knocked in the winning run to give BenU the 9-8 win.
Adcox picked up the win with allowing two earned runs and five strikeouts in 8.1 innings. Wolski was 2-5 and
Kara Walsh was 2-4 in the game.
In game two, Colby State took an early 2-0 lead before the Eagles scored six runs in the second and third innings. After six and a half innings, the Eagles led 10-2. Colby State gave BenU a score after tallying four runs in the bottom of the frame but went on to hold CSU scoreless in the seventh to take home the 10-6 victory.
Kelly Loy received the win for the Eagles striking out two batters in 5.2 innings. At the plate,
Alex Daviera and
Nikki Powers each had two hits.
The Eagles are off on Tuesday but resume play on Wednesday when they take on University of Wisconsin-Superior at 8 a.m. (CST) and then Eastern Connecticut State at 10:00 a.m. (CST). Follow the game by watching the
