LISLE, Ill. - In their home opener, the Benedictine University softball team split with Concordia University-Wisconsin on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Falcons 6-0 in game one but falling 4-1 in the nightcap.
Brittany Adcox earned the shutout for BenU (7-7, 3-1 NAC), allowing just three hits with four strikeouts. Jamie Schuh received the loss for Concordia-Wisconsin (10-10).
The Eagles offense came alive early, tallying five runs in the first three innings and the final run would come in the fifth. At the plate,
Kara Walsh was 2-4 and scored two runs while
Sarah Koch was 2-3 with one run.
Chelsea White had a perfect game, going 3-3 with two triples and three RBI.
In game two, it was CUW who would score first, putting three runs on the board in the third inning. The Eagles cut into their deficit with a run in the fourth but the Falcons would secure their victory in the fifth with their final run of the game to take home the 4-1 win.
Eryn Pondo chalked up the loss for BenU, allowing three hits and three earned runs.
Kelly Loy made an appearance in relief allowing two hits. Danielle Burke picked up the W for Concordia allowing four hits and three strikeouts.
The Eagles continue Northern Athletics on Monday afternoon when they travel to Milwaukee School of Engineering for a 3:00 p.m. double header.
