LISLE, Ill. - It took 24 hours, but Benedictine University finished a Sunday doubleheader with Dominican by winning the resumption of a suspended game 8-5 on Monday night at the Sports Complex.
Picking up action in the bottom of the fourth inning with Benedictine leading 5-4, the Eagles were able to hold off the visitors for the victory.

The first delay came in the third inning on Sunday and lasted longer than an hour. Following the delay, Benedictine scored four runs in the bottom of the third to take a 5-4 advantage.
John Cervantes singled with one out and Tim Higgins followed suit with a single. With two outs an error opened the door for the first of four runs. Wanderling recorded his second RBI single before

Weather forced another stoppage in the bottom of the fourth, postponing play to Monday. Benedictine scored an unearned run in the fifth to stretch the lead to 6-4.
Steve Cocat opened the inning with a double and scored on an error. Dominican crept to within a run in the seventh on a Richie Green RBI double.
Tom Higgins helped Benedictine put the game away in the bottom of the eighth. Higgins worked the count full and fouled off several pitches before driving a two-run double deep to center to score

Shay Wagner closed the door with a perfect ninth to notch his fifth save. Freshman
Ty Anderson earned the win with his 2.2 inning relief effort on Sunday.
Benedictine totaled 11 hits. Cocat finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored while Cervantes, Higgins, and Wanderling each picked up a pair of hits.
Benedictine (14-12, 8-4) will play a non-conference game on the road Wednesday night at Illinois Wesleyan University.
