Brittany Adcox pitched a no-hitter and the Eagles swept Edgewood College on Saturday afternoon for senior day at the Sports Complex. Benedictine defeated Edgewood 9-0 in game one and beat EC 8-3 in the nightcap.
Adcox pitched a perfect game, striking out six batters in five innings. At the plate,
Brittany Wolski was 2-3 with two RBI while
Laura Christensen also tallied two hits with two runs.
The Eagles took an early 4-0 lead in the first inning then came back in the second to make it 8-0. In the third, BenU scored another run to secure their 9-0 victory.
In the second game, Adcox pitched the first four innings, allowing three hits and striking out two.
Eryn Pondo and
Kelly Loy made appearances in relief, allowing four hits and two earned runs combined.
After going up 7-0 in the first, Edgewood held BenU scoreless until the fifth inning when they scored their last run of the game. Edgewood scored earlier in the inning and tried to make a late comeback with two runs in the seventh, but it wasn't enough as Benedictine went on to win 8-3.
Kelly Mieszala was 2-3 while
Lucy Poro had two hits. Christensen was 2-3 while Wolski extended her hit streak to 17 games with one hit.
Benedictine is on a 17-game win streak and looks to extend that streak next Saturday when they travel to Marian University for a 12:00 p.m. doubleheader.
