LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University baseball team recorded a shortened win over Wheaton College thanks to a 10-run seventh on Wednesday night to run its longest win streak of the season to five games.
Both teams had very few opportunities early against the opposing starter.
Chris Jordan made his second start for Benedictine and after surrendering a one-out single in the first retired 14 consecutive Wheaton hitters, leaving after five blank frames. Jordan did not pick up a decision in the game.
Benedictine had its chances against Wheaton starter Casey Moll but left seven on base leading up to the seventh. With one out

Steve Cocat and
Ryan Mullin each walked to load the bases.
John Cervantes broke the scoreless tie, stroking a two-run single to right to extend his on base streak to 16 games while handing Benedictine a 2-0 lead. The next batter,
Tom Higgins, belted a three-run homer over the wall in right, his fifth homer of the year.

Tim Hendricks logged an infield single to load the bases. Pinch hitter
Tim Gindville looped a single to right to make the score 6-0. A passed ball extended the lead to 7-0 and another error enabled two more runs to score. The inning and game came to an end on a Mullin RBI single.
Matt Vucovich collected the win in relief, upping his mark to 2-2 on the season by tossing a scoreless seventh. Benedictine finished with 10 hits in the game. Nine different individuals notched a hit in the win with Ortiz posting a pair.
Benedictine (19-13) will play again on Thursday night, completing a suspended game with Elmhurst College at 7:00 p.m. Benedictine held a 7-3 lead after three innings before the game was stopped due to a power outage.
