Sabres End Eagles Win Streak

Fon du Lac, Wis. - After winning a 7-0 first game, the Benedictine University softball team ended their 18-game win streak against Marian University, falling 11-2 in the nightcap.

Brittany Adcox picked up her 19th win of the season after striking out four batters in the first game. As a team, BenU  (28-9) tallied nine hits including two hits from Brittany Wolski, Kara Walsh and Sarah Koch.

The Eagles took an early 4-0 lead in the third inning then tallied a run in the fourth and two more in th fifth for the 7-0 victory.

In the nightcap, the Sabres were the ones to take the early lead, scoring three runs in the first inning. Benedictine cut their deficity with two runs of their own in the third inning, but MU scored another run in the bottom of the frame to take the 4-2 lead.

The Sabres offense would not falter as they scored two more runs in the fourth and five in the fifth for the 11-2 win.

Kelly Mieszala led BenU with two hits. Eryn Pondo received the loss, allowing nine hits with six strikeouts.

Benedictine resumes Northern Athletics Conference play on Sunday afternoon with a 12:00 pm doubleheader at Lakeland College.
