WHEATON, Ill. - Benedictine University tallied 11 hits in a 12-1 victory over Wheaton College in game one, but the BenU softball team dropped the second game of a doubleheader, 11-3, on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.
In game one,
Brittany Adcox and
Kara Walsh were 2-4 while
Kelly Mieszala was 2-3 with three runs scored.
Brittany Wolski picked up her second homerun of the season, going 3-3 with 4 RBI.
The Eagles (10-8) put a run on the board in the first inning and scored two more in the second. After a big third inning, BenU went up 8-0 and continued their offensive reign with four more runs in the fifth to secure the 12-1 win.
Adcox picked up the win allowing just five hits in five innings. Adcox moved to 7-3 on the year with a 1.75 ERA.
In the second game, it was Wheaton (17-7) who took an early lead. The Thunder scored three runs in the first and two more in the second to go up 5-1. The Eagles cut their deficit in the third with two runs but WC scored six runs in the third off of four hits and two Eagle errors for the 11-3 victory.
At the plate, Mieszala and
Nikki Powers each tallied hits.
Benedictine is back in Northern Athletics Conference action on Friday morning when they host Wisconsin Lutheran with an 11:00 a.m. doubleheader at the Sports Complex.
