Softball Season Ends With 1-0 Loss to Carthage

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Benedictine University softball team saw their season come to an end with a 1-0 loss to Carthage College in the NCAA Softball Regionals played at Illinois Wesleyan University.

The Eagles (33-11) out-hit Carthage (35-9) 5-4 but the Lady Reds managed to pull together two hits in the second inning to take the 1-0 lead.

Benedictine would threaten the Carthage lead on sevearl occasions including the third inning when the Eagles tallied two singles but left two runners on base.

In the fifth, Chelsea White led off with a single and advanced on a sacrifice bunt from Laura Christensen but BenU's offense could not produce any runs to leave Carthage with the 1-0 lead.

In their final attempt, Jess Fijolek walked in the bottom of the seventh but the Eagle's could not bring her around as their season came to an end after the 1-0 loss to the Lady Reds.

Brittany Adcox allowed just four hits and one earned run in the loss while striking out six. Brittany Wolski led the BenU offense with two hits.

Brittany Wolski was named to the All-Region Team.

The Eagles end their season with a 33-11 overall record and their second straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
