Box Score

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The No. 1 seeded Benedictine University softball team blanked No. 4 Marian University, 3-0, on Friday morning at the Alverno College Field for their first game of the Northern Athletics Conference Tournament.

Benedictine, (31-9) who won the regular season title with a 22-2 NAC record, took an early 1-0 lead in the first after Kelly Mieszala led off with a double down the left field line. Brittany Adcox advanced the runner when she singled up the middle. Mieszala would score later in the inning on a throwing error by the MU third baseman.

In the third, Brittany Adcox would add to the BenU lead when she sent a solo shot over the left field fence for her second homerun of the season.

Sarah Koch led off the bottom of the fourth with a single to left center field. After Jess Fijolek advanced the runner with a sacrifice bunt, Koch scored the very next play after another throwing error by the Sabres.

Adcox and the Eagle defense held Marian scoreless for the next three innings to take the 3-0 victory.

Adcox (22-3) allowed just three hits in 7.0 innings while striking out nine batters. Marian's Waltz received the loss, allowing seven hits with one strikeout.

At the plate, Adcox and Koch were both 2-3.
