Softball Sweeps Final NAC Honors

WAUKESHA, Wis. - Brittany Adcox and Kelly Mieszala recieved the final Northern Athletics Conference weekly honors of the season, receiving Pitcher and Player of the Week after Benedictine took home the NAC Tournament title for the second straight season.

The senior hurler pitched every single inning for the Eagles during the tournament, going 3-0 with just a 0.35 ERA. Adcox allowed just eight hits on the week with 24 strikeouts in 20 innings pitched. Two of her three wins were shutouts, including a 10-0 victory over Dominican University in the championship game.

Mieszala led BenU at the plate with a .667 average including two doubles and four RBI. The sophomore centerfielder had the walk-off extra inning hit against Aurora University that put Benedictine into the championship game. Against Dominican, Mieszala was one of three Eagles that had a homerun.

Benedictine is getting ready to head to the 2012 NCAA Softball Championship after being selected as the #7 seed in the Bloomington, Ill. Regional. The Eagles will face the #2 seed, Linfield, at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 10 at Illinois Wesleyan University.
