Box Score WHEATON, Ill. - Facing a tough challenge to open the 2012 season, the Benedictine University football team fell to 15th ranked Wheaton College 48-7 on the road Thursday night.
Wheaton scored on the first two possessions of the game to open an early 13-0 lead. Benedictine struggled to get moving on offense, finishing with just 178 yards of total offense.
The best chance for Benedictine to score early came on a drive opening at the Wheaton 40-yard line late in the first half trailing 27-0. The Eagles moved the ball to the Wheaton seven before being stopped on fourth down.
Wheaton built the lead to 48-0 before Benedictine (0-1) drove down to score their lone TD late in the contest. A 13-play drive keyed with a 24-yard run from

Defensively, the Eagles forced a pair of turnovers and finished +1 for the game.
Ryan Stec led the defense with 10 tackles.
John Borsellino was limited to just 18 net yards rushing on 16 carries while also catching five passes. Quarterback
Cyle Schultz in his debut completed 16 passes for 127 yards with an interception. Eight passes went to
Chris Schultz, who totaled 60 yards.
Benedictine travels to North Park on Saturday, September 8, for another non-conference night game.
