CLERMONT, Fla. - The Benedictine University softball team dropped a pair of games on Monday afternoon, falling to Allegheny College and University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
The Eagles came from behind in game one against Allegheny after trailing 5-0 after five innings. In the sixth,
Erin Kotlarz led off with a single up the middle followed by a single down the left field line from
Kelly Mieszala.
Kailee Cable drove in an RBI with a single followed by a two-RBI double by
Sarah Koch.
Nikki Powers drove in the final run of the inning with a single to give Eagles four runs.
Allegheny's defense held strong in the bottom of the frame to take home the win.
For BenU, Kotlarz and Cable were both 2-4 while Koch was 1-3. On the mound,
Melissa Guzior allowed eight hits after facing 29 batters.
In game two, both Benedictine and Eau Claire had solid defense and strong pitching for the entire game. The Blugold tallied two runs in the fifth and another in the sixth to take home the 3-0 win.
Kelly Loy pitched seven innings allowing just two earned runs and had three strikeouts.
With an off-day on Tuesday, the Eagles are back in action on Thursday when they play Wesleyan University and UMass Boston at 10am and 12 pm (CST).
